Pelosi demands to remove the Confederate statues from the US Congress building

Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States Congress Nancy Pelos demanded to remove 11 statues of leaders and soldiers of the Confederation of the civil war of the 1860s, Reuters reports citing the letter of the speaker to the heads of the congressional committee.

“Their statues pay homage to hatred, not inheritance,” the letter says.

Earlier it was reported that amid protests against racism and police violence in the United States, many leaders of the demonstrators called on the country’s authorities to rename military bases named after the leaders of the Confederate army, who advocated the preservation of slavery in the country.
