Prosecutors open an investigation into Trump’s daughter

New York prosecutors have launched an investigation into the daughter of the current US President Donald Trump Ivanka. This was reported on Friday, November 20, by the American edition of the New York Times, citing sources familiar with the situation.

As noted, New York Attorney General Letitia James (Letitia James), in charge of the administrative case against Trump on fraud, sent a request to the Trump Organization asking for documents on the fees that were paid to Ivanka. The company of the current American leader received a similar subpoena from the Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr., who is conducting a criminal investigation on the same topic.

According to the newspaper, such steps were taken by the prosecutor’s office after information appeared in late September that Trump had not paid federal income tax for ten years. It was noted that losses appeared in his tax reports for most of the time. In total, from 2010 to 2018, Trump wrote off about $ 26 million in consulting expenses, due to which he was able to significantly reduce his taxable income. At the same time, it is known that one of the consultants whose services the politician’s company used was his daughter Ivanka.

According to New York Times, although the law allows American companies to deduct their spending on consulting services, it is necessary that they have been substantiated, and their cost remains within the market.

Trump himself denies claims against him about possible tax evasion and promises to publish declarations in the near future. Moreover, he is the first head of state in the past 40 years who has refused to do so until now.
