Residents of Venice have again revolted against the huge cruise ships that dock in the city’s historic port.
According to reports, the activists complained of deception on the part of the government, which promised to ban large ships from entering the city center.
As part of the protest, residents boarded gondolas and lined them up as the first liner left the port since the pandemic began.
Venetians had already repeatedly protested against cruise ships entering the port because of water pollution and underwater erosion.
Authorities have relented, assuring them that they would prohibit large ships from docking. However, this will not happen until new routes around the historic center of the city and additional terminals are laid out.
