US Attorney General William Barr said that foreign forces, as well as extremist groups, use the protests in connection with the death of George Floyd to their advantage

He stated this at a press conference, reports Reuters.

Barr noted that the Justice Ministry has evidence of direct intervention by extremist forces and politicians in the riot situation when calls for violence were heard. In particular, we are talking about the participation of the anti-fascist movement “Antifa”. Also, charges of planning riots were announced to three members of the extreme right-wing movement “Bugalu”.

“We have evidence that Antifa and other similar extremist groups, as well as members of various political forces, were involved in inciting violent activities and participating in unrest,” said Barr.

The Prosecutor General added that foreign interference in the protests was also recorded. In particular, groups have been created on social networks that distribute fake information about what is happening on the streets of the United States. He compared this to information campaigns that were distributed during the 2016 presidential election by Russia.

“Some foreign hackers and groups associated with foreign governments are focusing on this particular situation that we have here and are trying to aggravate it in every possible way,” he said.

Barr also said that federal agents had already carried out 51 arrests on charges of violence.

In general, during the protests 114 law enforcement representatives were injured only in Washington. 22 of them were hospitalized. During the riots in the city, there were seven fires that began to be investigated.
