Russia denies Aliyev’s words about Turkish peacekeepers in Karabakh

Moscow denied the words of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev about the deployment of Turkish peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh together with Russian ones.

“An important point that I would like to draw your attention to is about the peacekeeping forces. We are talking about the peacekeeping forces of the Russian Federation, ”Zakharova stressed. She stressed that the matter concerns the contingent along the line of contact in Nagorno-Karabakh. It is also noted that the question of the status of this region is spelled out in a joint statement by Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Earlier, a diplomatic source in Azerbaijan named the date of a possible signing of an agreement between Russia and Turkey on monitoring the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. He said that the Defense Ministries of Russia and Turkey will sign a special agreement on the establishment of a joint monitoring center to observe the ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh on November 10. This information has not yet been officially confirmed by either the Russian or the Turkish side.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said that together with Russian peacekeepers the Turkish contingent will be brought into the region. However, the treaty itself mentions only the peacekeeping forces of Russia.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to end the war in Nagorno-Karabakh from November 10.
