Attempts of the United States to stop the construction of Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline is a part of the general policy of containment against Russia. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
“We are also well aware that the United States of America will not stop trying to prevent Russia from implementing not only this project, but also in general foreign policy, its international activities. We record this on a regular, constant basis. This is called a policy of containment of our country,” Zakharova said.
The diplomat pointed out that aspects of this policy include sanctions, stop-lists, restrictions against companies and business representatives. She added that plans for the completion of the pipeline will not change.
On December 9, it became known that the U.S. House of Representatives approved tougher sanctions against Russian gas pipelines Nord Stream 2 and Turkish Stream. The relevant measures are contained in the draft military budget of the country for 2021.
