Russia talks about U.S. illusions of winning a nuclear conflict

Moscow warns Washington against a dangerous aspiration for military superiority. This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.

“They [the U.S.] seek unconditional military superiority, (…) this aspiration is fuelled by a dangerous illusion about the possibility of winning a nuclear conflict,” Ryabkov said. The diplomat added that Moscow is warning the U.S. and the international community against the harmful consequences of such an approach.

It was previously reported that Russia had passed on proposals for a new arms control agreement to the Americans as “food for thought. One unofficial document proposed to Washington is the framework for future control of the nuclear arsenal. Another document concerns the extension of the current Treaty on Measures for the Further Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms (START, unofficial title START 3).
