Coronavirus may be accompanied by signs of acute pancreatitis in the patient. This conclusion was made by scientists from the University of Liverpool.
This mainly applies to young men who are obese. In addition to positive tests for COVID-19, they revealed high blood sugar and cholesterol, which indicates inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis).
“The data obtained will help identify patients (with pancreatitis. – Ed.) At an earlier stage of the disease,” explained Professor Christopher Halloran.
Acute pancreatitis is an inflammation of the pancreas. The main symptoms of the disease are girdle pain in the upper abdomen, accompanied by diarrhea and vomiting.
Earlier on Friday, the number of recorded cases of coronavirus infection in the world exceeded 7.27 million. Over a day, more than 128 thousand cases were registered, more than 5 thousand patients died, the World Health Organization reported.
