Scientists in the U.S. have managed to connect the brain of a paralyzed patient to a computer using a wireless sensor attached to the motor cortex. It is reported by Independent.
The sensor works in such a way that it transmits a single-neuron resolution signal to the computer via a broadband wireless channel.
The results showed high efficiency of this method, which is not inferior to the wired technique. However, this system, called BrainGate by the creators, gives a large number of possibilities of working with bedridden patients due to the lack of attachment to the technique. Scientists have noted that in the future, the development will help people with limited mobility regain communicative freedom and mobility.
