Shooting in Texas: A man wounded a police officer and barricaded himself in his home

There was a shooting in the Texas town of Honey Grove on June 16, which resulted in the wounding of a police officer.

This was reported by the local police department.

Law enforcement officers arrived on the scene due to a domestic dispute, but were met at the scene by a man with a rifle.

According to police, the suspect opened fire on the officers, wounding one of them. The victim was rushed to an emergency hospital. The wounded man is in stable condition.

Honey Grove Police Department
On June 15, 2021 about 11:00 P.M. a Honey Grove police officer responded to the 800 block of Hickory street in reference to a possible domestic dispute. Upon arrival the officer encountered a male subject said to be armed with a rifle. Precinct 3 Constable arrived to assist. At this time officers were fired upon and the Honey Grove officer was struck. Constable was able to pull officer to safety while still being fired upon. The injured officer was driven from the scene and then flown to a Plano hospital where he is in stable condition.

Multiple law enforcement agencies responded including Fannin County Sheriffs Office, Lamar County Sheriffs Office, Paris Pd Swat, Texas Rangers, DPS Swat, Plano Bomb Squad , Bonham Fire, Honey Grove Fire, Lamar and Fannin County Emergency Management. Neighboring residents were evacuated for safety.

The suspect was not immediately apprehended as he barricaded himself inside the home after the shooting. His neighbors were evacuated for their safety. The street was cordoned off. Police later reported that the operation to catch the suspect was complete.
