The incident occurred on Thursday. The girl pulled a gun from her backpack and opened fire. As a result of the shooting, she wounded two classmates and a member of the school staff. They reportedly suffered non-serious injuries.

According to the local sheriff, the girl was disarmed by a teacher at Rigby Middle School and held in custody until police arrived. The sheriff noted that the girl was shot multiple times inside and outside the school, and that the cause of the incident is being determined.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
