Android smartphone users report that the SMS function has broken down after an update to Carrier Services.
This service manages communication with the cellular network provider.
Over the past week, many users have complained on OnePlus forums and in Play Store reviews that problems with SMS messages appeared. Removing Carrier Services helped to resolve the bug.
The service recently received an update to version 50. The update started rolling out on December 2 and the first complaints appeared almost immediately.
In particular, users noticed that SMS were being blocked when sent or received. The bug was spotted on OnePlus, LG, Motorola, Samsung and TCL smartphones.
Google said it has fixed the problem. The company recommends that users update to the latest version of Carrier Services via the Play Store to get the patch.
