Already more than 13 million people around the world are infected with coronavirus, the death toll is close to 600,000. The United States remains the epicenter of the pandemic, where some regions reintroduce restrictive measures due to the increase in the number of infected. The number of infected in the countries of South America is growing rapidly.
Restaurants at the castle, museums close. The population of the US state of California has too relaxed after quarantine has been lifted: masks are not worn, and precautions are not paid attention. Hence the high rates of infection growth, which Texas, Arizona and Florida also noted.
The governor of California ordered again to close for visiting churches, gyms, hairdressers, cinemas, bars and zoos. Small business owners immediately protested. They barely endured the blow of the first quarantine, and the second may simply not survive.
In neighboring Mexico, businessmen from the United States agree. Over the past four months, over one million one hundred and forty thousand jobs have been lost there. And the situation is far from ideal – Mexico came in fifth place in terms of the number of infected in the countries of North and South America. Authorities are introducing new rules for those infected.
“If someone has become infected in the family, all of its members are quarantined for at least 15 days. My grandparents, aunt, her husband, cousin and another aunt are infected — only six people. They are all already hospitalized,” says resident of Mexico City David Dayan.
In Bolivia, doctors have to be hospitalized. In the La Paz department, the coronavirus was picked up by 890 medical workers – more than 65% of all the region’s doctors who help in the fight against the pandemic. La Paz took on the eighth of the total number of infected in the country, among the infected – the interim president of Bolivia, the head of the Senate, the Minister of Health, the Minister of Economics, the Minister of Justice and the head of the Bolivian Foreign Ministry.
Against the background of the prevalence of coronavirus in the country, authorities began negotiations with private clinics and cemeteries, discussing the possibility of buying out their business due to lack of space both in municipal hospitals and in places of general burial.
In Brazil, where the country’s leadership (in particular President Bolsonaru) has also become infected with the coronavirus, restrictive measures are being lifted one after another. And this despite the fact that the daily increase in the number of infected has exceeded 20,000 people. But even if there are restrictions and penalties for violating them, for example for visiting beaches, local residents do not stop.
“Well, yes, we are wrong that at the height of the pandemic they came to the beach. They sent me a fine. Everything was fine if everyone who came to the beach was punished, like us, but it doesn’t happen. So I don’t understand how it works, “says Brazilian resident Fernanda de Souza.
But walking along the beaches in Guatemala just doesn’t work. In Pakaya, the so-called civil patrol monitors compliance with quarantine. They have a thermometer in one hand and weapons in the other. They check not only the temperature, but also the presence of masks on the faces of local residents who decided to go outside at night.
“We are just strengthening measures to combat the pandemic. We know that we live in a place where people are too peaceful and therefore too relaxed. Many simply doubt the very existence of coronavirus, they do not comply with the curfew.”
Residents of the Argentinean city of Puerto were much luckier, they not only curtailed, but also opened access to the famous Iguazu Falls, located next to the park of the same name. The provincial authorities expect to open other attractions, if the opening of the Iguazu Park in the coming weeks does not lead to an increase in the number of people infected in Puerto.
