SpaceX successfully launched a rocket with a record number of satellites

SpaceX on January 24 successfully launched a Falcon 9 rocket with a record number of satellites. Broadcast operation was conducted on the site of the company.

Among the launched 143 satellites are 10 Starlink satellites, another 48 devices are the property of the company Planet, studying the surface of the Earth. Among others, the operation involves 36 mini-satellites of Swarm Technologies, specializing in the field of Internet-things. It is specified that the mission has been named Transporter-1.

According to RIA Novosti, the launch of the satellite weighing 200 kilograms is estimated at one million dollars. Exceeding the figure per kilogram adds five thousand dollars to the cost.

Initially, the launch of carrier rocket Falcon 9 with 143 satellites was scheduled for January 23, but the company had to revise plans because of adverse weather conditions. In this regard, a representative of SpaceX announced the postponement of the launch on the day.

January 18 rival of Ilon Musk, the company Virgin Orbit for the first time launched its rocket LauncherOne into orbit. The launch put nine CubeSat satellites into orbit. “We are proud to say that LauncherOne completed its first space mission, delivering satellites into space for our friends at NASA,” the company said.
