The American Starbucks chain will separate hundreds of stores in the country from coffee shops and expand its shopping-only business. This shift shows how consumer behavior has changed during the pandemic, experts say.
The company said it plans to close about 400 coffee houses in the US and Canada over the next 18 months, while additional points have been created for buying coffee without the ability to sit inside.
Ultimately, after the pandemic, the chain will open 300 stores in North America that specialize in the sale and delivery of coffee. “This re-positioning will include the closure of coffee shops and the transition to retail stores with innovative systems,” the network said.
