State Department: sanctions against Iran are incompatible with nuclear deal

The U.S. State Department is ready to lift sanctions against Iran.

State Department spokesman Ned Price told reporters on Wednesday, April 7.

“We are prepared to take the steps necessary to return to compliance with the JCPOA, including by lifting sanctions that are inconsistent with the nuclear deal,” Price said.

The State Department spokesman added that he had no authority to name a specific “chapter and line” as to how that might happen.

“That’s why we agreed to engage in diplomatic negotiations,” he added.
