Study: many people would stay alive if they wore masks

Experts have concluded that more than 100 thousand people would have stayed alive if all people wore medical masks.

According to a study by American scientists, wearing a mask could save more than 100 thousand people. Experts say that if at least 95% of the United States population wore medical masks, an average of 130,000 deaths could be avoided by February 2021.

The researchers noted that if everyone in the United States wore a mask as of September 22, 2020, between 85,284 and 170,867 lives could be saved.

Experts stressed that wearing a mask, even for 85% of the population, could have prevented between 60,731 and 133,077 deaths.

As you know, a few weeks ago the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) made a statement that the mask protects not only the people around, but also the person who wears it. However, despite the results of the study, warnings and fines, people in the United States are still not taking this regulation responsibly.

Experts from IHME have estimated that national mask use is just over 65%.
