Supreme Court rejects Republicans' appeal of Pennsylvania election

Three justices issued dissenting opinions, saying the case could be a benchmark for future elections

The U.S. Supreme Court has announced that it will not hear an appeal by Pennsylvania Republicans seeking to disqualify mailed ballots for the 2020 presidential election that arrived after Election Day.

The court’s short ruling does not specify the grounds for dismissing the case, which in practice meant the end of Supreme Court election litigation.

Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, and Neil Gorsuch issued dissenting opinions, saying the court should have used the case to guide future elections.
