Taliban claim to have seized mausoleum of Afghan resistance leader’s father

Taliban fighters said they had seized the mausoleum of Ahmad Shah Massoud, father of Panjsher resistance leader Ahmad Massoud Jr

Masoud’s mausoleum is eight kilometers from Bazarak, where the administrative center of Panjsher is located.

Earlier, Ali Nazari of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan said that most of this area and the surrounding valleys were controlled by the movement’s forces.

At the beginning of August, the Taliban stepped up their attack on government forces in Afghanistan. The Taliban entered the capital and took control of the presidential palace on August 15 and announced on August 16 that the war in Afghanistan is over and the form of government in the state will be clarified soon. On the night of August 31, the U.S. military withdrew from Kabul airport, ending nearly 20 years of American military presence in Afghanistan.
