Teenager blamed for murder of 13-year-old Florida girl

Authorities in Florida have arrested and charged a 14-year-old boy with murder one day after a 13-year-old girl disappeared and died.

The parents of Tristyn Bailey, a student and cheerleader at Patriot Oaks Academy in St. John’s, Florida, said their daughter went missing Sunday morning after not returning home the night before. Bailey was last seen Sunday night near Durbin, according to a report from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.

Throughout Sunday, community members, classmates and Bailey’s support group searched for her Toward the end of the day, her body was found in a wooded area.

The sheriff’s office announced Monday the arrest of a 14-year-old suspect, his name withheld because of his juvenile status. He has been charged with second-degree murder. Other details of the case have not yet been released.
