Trump said he was taking hydroxychloroquine, although health experts had questioned its effectiveness.
President Donald Trump said he takes daily doses of hydroxychloroquine, a drug he has long advertised as a potential coronavirus remedy. Even after medical experts and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration have questioned its effectiveness and warned of potentially harmful side effects.
Speaking at a meeting of restaurant managers, Trump said he began taking the antimalarial drug after consulting with White House Dr., although he didn’t say his doctor actually recommended it.
“A couple of weeks ago I started taking it, now I take it every day,” Trump said. Since it’s prescribed for malaria and autoimmune disorders, Trump believes it’s safe and encourages Coronavirus patients to use it because they have nothing to lose.
