The Game Awards 2020, held online this year because of the coronavirus pandemic, announced the best games of the year. It was broadcast on the YouTube channel “thegameawards.
The Last of Us: Part 2 took the top prize in the Game of the Year category, and also won in the Best Game Design, Best Story and Best Audio Design categories. In addition, The Last of Us was deemed the most accessible game for people with disabilities. The audience voted Ghost of Tsushima as the game of the year, while also receiving the award for Best Art Design.
Final Fantasy VII Remake had the best soundtrack, and Hades was named the best action game. The best VR game was Half Life: Alyx, and among RPG games, Final Fantasy VII Remake took first place. The prize for best family game went to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Microsoft Flight Simulator was named the best strategy game.
Also the best eSports game was named League of Legends. The most anticipated game was Elden Ring.
Last year the “Game of the Year” was Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, also the product of the Japanese studio FromSoftware won in the category “Best Adventure Game”.
