On Monday morning, July 6, a 4-year-old boy from Michigan shot his 5-year-old sister in the head – while their unsuspecting parents were sleeping in another room
Police said the child woke up around 1:40 in the morning and took a loaded pistol from an unlocked wardrobe in a family house in Redford Township, a suburb of Detroit. After that, the boy, who considered the weapon a toy, returned to his room with his sister, pointed a gun at the baby and fired. Fortunately, the girl survived. According to the mother, she is currently in a stable condition. Doctors expect the child to recover – despite a brain hemorrhage. The names of the parents were not disclosed. The shooting followed the bloody weekend for Independence Day, during which dozens of people died and dozens were injured in shootings throughout the United States.
