The European Commission has allowed the sale of the first medicine for coronavirus

The European Commission has issued permission to sell the medicine remdesivir for the treatment of coronavirus

This was reported on the official website of the European Commission.

It is specified that the permission was granted according to the accelerated procedure after the recommendations of the European Medicines Agency with further approval by the member states of the European Union.

It is reported that the effectiveness of remdesivir was evaluated in a short time using the rolling check procedure used in emergency situations.

“Authorizing the sale of the first drug to treat COVID-19 is an important step in the fight against coronavirus … We will make every effort to ensure effective treatment and development of the vaccine,” said Stella Kyriakides, Commissioner for Health and Food Safety.

It is noted that the drug remdesivir was previously used in the treatment of the Ebola, Junin, Marburg and Lassa viruses.
