New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo said that the leaders of a number of American states made a mistake when, amid the pandemic, under the influence of US President Donald Trump, they lifted the isolation regime. His words are quoted by Interfax.
According to him, the government is incompetent, it denies the reality of the current situation, and also puts pressure on local authorities to “recklessly” lift the isolation regime.
Cuomo noticed that due to such a mistake, residents of other states are arriving in New York, hoping to hide from the spreading virus. At the same time, the governor noted, the authorities of other states managed to take the epidemiological situation under control.
On July 6, Cuomo rebuked Trump for the spread of the coronavirus. The head of state noted that the statements of the head of state only exacerbate the situation and lead to the further spread of the disease. Because of Trump’s remarks, he said, Americans are not wearing masks, keeping their distance and being careful.
According to the latest data, more than 3.8 million cases of coronavirus infection have been recorded in the United States. 140,787 people died due to complications associated with COVID-19 pneumonia.
