US authorities are considering creating an analogue of the World Health Organization (WHO). It is assumed that the unit will be formed at the State Department, and its main task will be to respond to outbreaks of infectious diseases. About this writes the publication Politico.
According to his interlocutors, Deborah Birks, coordinator of the White House working group on the situation with coronavirus infection, can head the American structure. The newspaper believes that the structure created will be more effective in comparison with an international organization, the financing of which the US president has suspended.
The coordinators of the State Department, according to the plan, will monitor the willingness to respond to possible outbreaks of dangerous diseases, solve issues related to the development and use of vaccines. ■
