The first-ever encounter between a Russian Su-30SM fighter jet and an F-35A Lightning II of the Italian Air Force was caught on video, which was published in the Telegram channel “Military Observer”. The footage shows the Russian aircraft approaching the Italian aircraft over the Baltic Sea.
The Italian Air Force’s F-35A Lightning II arrived at the Emari airbase in Estonia on a rotation mission to protect Baltic airspace and succeeded Germany, Interfax reported on May 3. The pilots and technicians will spend four months in the country.
Estonian Defense Minister Kalle Laanet noted the importance of the allied presence in eastern Europe and added that “Russia’s foreign policy is still aggressive.”
Earlier, Su-34 fighter-bombers practiced the use of S-13 unguided air-to-surface missiles during exercises held in the Kurgan Region. A video of the exercise was shown by the Defense Ministry.
