The number of victims of the earthquake in Croatia increased to seven, people are still under the rubble.
Among the dead is a 12-year-old girl from the town of Petrinja, much of which was destroyed by the earthquake. The bodies of the other dead were found under the rubble of houses in the settlements of Maiske Poljane and Žažina. Also reported about 20 wounded were taken to the hospital in the city of Sisak in the central part of the country. Two of them are in serious condition.
The Croatian army is taking part in the search and rescue operations. The authorities are arranging transportation of COVID-19 patients from the affected regions to nearby cities, some of them are planned to be accommodated in the Arena Zagreb.
A strong earthquake occurred in Croatia on Tuesday, December 29. The magnitude reached 6.3 on the Richter scale. The epicenter was 44 kilometers southeast of the Croatian capital. According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center, the earthquake was the strongest in the country this year.
