The pilot of the American F-15C fighter, which crashed in the North Sea, was killed, said the 48th US Air Force fighter regiment stationed in the UK on a verified account on Twitter.
“The pilot of the fallen F-15C Eagle was found. It is confirmed that he died. This is a tragic loss,” the report said.
The name of the pilot is not called until his relatives are informed.
The disaster occurred on Monday morning off the coast of Yorkshire. The F-15C, performing a training flight as part of a group of four fighters, crashed into the sea. The causes of the incident are still unknown.
