Pope Francis announced a special indulgence in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic to all who repent during the year. This is reported in a decree published on the Vatican’s website.

“In the current context of public health emergency, the gift of indulgence applies especially to the elderly, the sick, the dying and suffering and those who, for good reason, cannot leave their homes,” the report says.

It is noted that the forgiveness of sins is guaranteed “to those who repent and with the intention to fulfill three conditions as soon as possible, whether at home or in another place of forced stay – confession, communion and prayer.

According to TASS, on Tuesday Francis gave a sermon on the occasion of the Catholic Church’s celebration of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. The Pontiff recalled the need to comply with all measures established by the authorities to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
