The president of Mexico Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador on Saturday held telephone negotiations with the colleague from the USA Donald Trump. The head of the Latin American state reported about it on the Twitter.
“We spoke by phone with the president Trump, – Lopez Obrador wrote. – We confirmed him our readiness to be on friendly terms, conduct dialogue and to cooperate for the good of our people”.
On Friday representatives of the authorities of Mexico and the USA at negotiations in Washington could reach agreements concerning migration. According to it Mexico City will take measures for suppression of illegal migration in the USA, including will place the military personnel of the National guard on all territory of the country, paying special attention to the southern border. Besides, the authorities of the Latin American country will actively fight against the organizations which are engaged in human trafficking.
Trump declared on May 30 introduction since June 10 of duties of 5% for goods from Mexico in connection with migration crisis on the general border. He warned that tariffs will grow for 5% every month up to October of the current year if Mexico City does not take resolute actions to stop not only illegal migration, but also drug trafficking in the USA. After representatives of two countries managed to agree, Trump reported that introduction of the customs duties on goods from Mexico is suspended for an indefinite term.
