The producers of The Walking Dead want to make a comedy spin-off

During a “The Walking Dead” finale special, Scott M. Gimple, the series’ chief content director, said that AMC and the producers are working on a comedy spin-off.

Who says zombies can’t be funny? Scott M. Gimple confirmed that a comedy project based on the theme of the main series is in development. Gimple, who joined “The Walking Dead” as a writer in Season 2 and served as showrunner from Season 4 through Season 8, is now set to be the creator of a comedic version of the project’s cinematic universe.

“We’re not making fun of our world, but it’s just a comedic take on it,” Gimple noted.

The original project is based on comic books by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard, and the series premiered on AMC in 2010. “The Walking Dead” has officially ended after Season 10, there are already two spin-offs coming out and 3 standalone films about the main character, Rick Grimes, are in preparation.
