By June 19, US authorities will publish an expanded version of the report of special prosecutor Robert Muller about Russia’s possible interference in the election of the American president in 2016.
The updated version will have more information about the role played by former US presidential adviser Roger Stone, sentenced to prison for lying to Congress, in an alleged attempt to influence the American electoral system. Information that was previously unavailable due to the criminal proceedings against Stone can now be published.
Earlier, the court sentenced Stone. He was sentenced to three years and four months in prison, supervision after completion of two years and a fine of $ 20 thousand.
On January 25, 2019, Stone was arrested on seven criminal charges. On the same day, he was released on bail in the amount of 250 thousand dollars. He was accused of giving false testimony (five times), obstructing the investigation by the intelligence committee of the House of Representatives, and attempting to put pressure on witnesses.
The prosecution claimed that Stone intended to get incriminating information about the Democrats from the WikiLeaks website to help Trump in the election campaign. Stone called the allegations politically motivated.
