The Serbian patriarch died of the coronavirus

In Belgrade, Patriarch Irinej of Serbia died of coronavirus. He was 90 years old.

The Patriarch was hospitalized on November 4. Doctors expected him to be discharged in two weeks, but the condition of the Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church became more complicated – the coronavirus led to deterioration of chronic heart failure.

The world name of the patriarch is Miroslav Gavrilovich. He took his haircut in 1959 and became the prelate of the Serbian Orthodox Church in 2010.

Serbia is experiencing the second wave of coronavirus. More than 5 thousand new cases of covida are detected in the country per day, 1081 people have already died during the whole pandemic.
