Tropical depression number seven has formed this season over the Atlantic Ocean between Africa and the Lesser Antilles. Already this weekend, it can develop into a storm and affect the weather on the US east coast.
This newly formed system is currently halfway between the West African coast and the Windward Islands, moving from west to northwest. So far, the environment creates serious problems for predicting the intensity of storm development.
It is the first tropical cyclone of this season to occur in the so-called “main development region” of the Atlantic Ocean. The system could bring heavy rainfall and winds to the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean over the next week.
