The main source of the “Russian dossier” of US President Donald Trump was checked in connection with Russian intelligence, according to a letter from US Attorney General William Barr to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsay Graham. This was reported on the website of the Senate Committee.
The source of the compromising material was involved in the investigation by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) from 2009 to 2011. In the course of the investigation, “his documented contacts with Russian intelligence officers were assessed,” Barr said in a letter.
“The main source of Steele’s dossier was probably a Russian agent,” the senator said in his comment.
“Trump’s Russian dossier” was prepared by ex-British intelligence agent Christopher Steele. His dossier became known in 2016, the document collected information about Trump’s alleged ties with Russia.
