The Swedish authorities faced the need to introduce strict national quarantine measures against the background of increasing coronavirus morbidity.
It is noted that the rapid tightening of quarantine measures followed after the citizens ignored the quarantine recommendations, and the morbidity rate continued to grow. This is reported by the WSJ.
Authorities have banned mass meetings. Now no more than 8 people can gather together.
Cinemas and entertainment facilities have closed down in the country. The government also restricted the sale of alcohol – it is prohibited to sell it after 22:00. The Swedish authorities also decided to close the schools.
The number of deaths from COVID-19 in Sweden exceeded 7 thousand people, while in its closest neighbors these figures are much lower: in Denmark – less than 900, in Norway – less than 400, in Finland – less than 450.
