The U.S. has changed the system for counting coronavirus infections in a 24-hour period

The Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has changed the system for counting confirmed and potential cases of infection with coronavirus in the country per day.

According to the new data, the total number of these cases increased by 403,359 in the past 24 hours. The agency explains the sharp increase in the figure by the fact that the calculations began to take into account new information coming from the state of Texas about possible cases of infection.

It is specified that previously only information from Texas about confirmed cases of infection was taken into account when calculating the total number. Not all states distribute data on potential cases.

Earlier it became known that in the USA again was broken a record of morbidity by coronavirus: in the country were fixed more than 400 thousand cases of COVID-19 for 24 hours, that is almost by 150 thousand more than the previous maximum.

December 10 it was reported that the United States set a record for deaths from the coronavirus: for the first time in the country were recorded more than three thousand deaths from the virus in a single day.
