The British Ministry of Defense has disclosed details of the incident with the Defender destroyer in the Black Sea.
The head of the military department Ben Wallace said that the Russian military did not open fire at the ship, but only observed it, having warned in advance that military exercises were being held nearby.
He also added that the British destroyer was moving along an “internationally recognized corridor” and passed it “in one piece.”
“The Russians were conducting artillery exercises near HMS Defender and warned the maritime community in advance of their activity. Russian aircraft were also conducting exercises in the area,” it is reported, citing the ministry’s press service.
