The US imposes sanctions on Venezuela’s Supreme Court Chief Justice

In Washington, it was decided to impose sanctions against the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Venezuela, Michel Moreno and his wife. This was announced on July 21 by US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo.

According to him, the sanctions are being introduced due to the fact that Moreno, according to the American authorities, is involved in corrupt activities.

In addition, the US authorities announced a monetary reward of up to $ 5 million for information that would lead to the arrest of the Chief Justice of Venezuela “or his confession of involvement in transnational organized crime.”

It is noted that the reward was announced within the framework of the US Department of State’s Transnational Organized Crime Program.

In a widespread statement, Pompeo said the measures are intended to “reaffirm the United States’ commitment to fighting corruption and organized crime in Venezuela.”
