Steven Yeun, best known for his role as Glenn on The Walking Dead, has made history as the first Asian-American to be nominated for Best Actor at the Academy Awards.
The performer finally got the recognition he deserved with his role as Jacob Yee in Minari. Not only did Yeung receive his first Oscar nomination on March 15, but he also became the first Asian American nominee in the acting category.
Another performer will also make history – Riz Ahmet, who played in “The Sound of Metal,” became the first East Asian native in the Best Actor category.
Miyoshi Umeki and Haing S. Ngor are currently the only Asian American actors to win Oscars in the supporting actor categories.
