According to preliminary information, no one was hurt.
In the morning of June 21, explosions and fires broke out at Philadelphia Energy Solutions Refinery refineries in Philadelphia (USA).
The first explosion at the refinery occurred at 3:20 a.m. (10:20 a.m. in Kiev). Due to a fire in the vicinity of the plant, traffic was restricted.
“An explosion with intense ignition has just occurred, and the commander has announced the third level of alarm for this location,” one of the dispatchers said shortly after the explosion.
Videos of the explosion and the fire itself began to be actively published on the Web.
Residents of nearby houses said the explosion shaken the walls and caused the paintings to fall. The nearest areas had to be evacuated, however, American rescuers reported that no one was hurt during the explosion. The fire was contained, but its causes are not yet known.
Philadelphia Energy Solutions Refiner is one of the largest oil refineries on the eastern coast. The refinery is 150 years old. It processes 335 thousand barrels of crude oil per day. This is the second fire at the plant since the beginning of June. Last time the refinery was on fire on June 10, there were no casualties.
