Gillian Anderson will play Eleanor Roosevelt on the new Showtime series “First Lady. Joining her on the project are Michelle Pfeiffer and Viola Davis.
The X-Files star recently portrayed Margaret Thatcher in the Netflix hit The Crown. Now she is set to portray another historical figure – she has been cast as Eleanor Roosevelt in the new Showtime series “First Lady.”
Anderson’s colleagues will also play famous women: Michelle Pfeiffer will appear as Betty Ford and Viola Davis as Michelle Obama in the anthology series about the wives of presidents. Amy Israel, executive vice president of Showtime, notes: “Gillian Anderson is an actress of incredible range and exquisite talent – she’s the perfect choice to complete this powerful trio that will play these iconic women.”
