Three cases of shooting in Brooklyn: 7 injured in 10 minutes

Seven people were injured in a shooting in New York – three skirmishes occurred in parts of Brooklyn with a difference of only a few minutes.

The first shooting event occurred at around 10:40 p.m. on Bainbridge Street, next to Malcolm X Boulevard in the Bedford Styvesant area. During the shootout, two men 27 and 34 years old were injured in the leg. They were later taken to Kings County Hospital, and survivors are expected to survive.

In less than five minutes, a second case of shooting at Flatbush Avenue in the Flatbush area occurred, resulting in a 35-year-old man injured. He was also hospitalized at Kings County Hospital and his life is not in danger. Finally, at about 10:50 p.m., four people — a woman and three men — came under fire on Bristol Street near Newport Street in Brownsville. A 23-year-old woman is in critical condition, while men 17, 35 and 50 years old were injured in non-life-threatening conditions. According to an eyewitness to the shooting in Brownsville, 55-year-old Robert Green, at that time so many shots were fired that he could not count them.

Green said he noticed three men and a woman – who was in serious condition – in an ambulance. “I saw her breathing, but she did not move,” he said. A few hours after the shooting in Brownsville, the police were still working in the area, and there were cartridges in the street.

Now, New York is going through difficult times – over the past week, 13 murders were recorded in the city, which is almost three times more, compared with five cases in New York during the same period in 2019. 40 shootings took place in the city last week – this is the maximum figure for one week since 2015. In the same period, in 2019, 24 skirmishes occurred.
