This girl was the first winner of the new category of Time magazine – Child of the Year. Gitanjali Rao will go down in history as the first representative of this category.

Five finalists of the “Child of the Year” contest were chosen from more than 5000 Americans aged 8 to 16 years. However, the young lady scientist and inventor Gitanjali, who is only 15 years old, became the best. She was honored as the first child of the year by Time magazine.

In a special interview for the publication, she spoke about her amazing work using technologies to solve problems ranging from contaminated drinking water to opioid dependence and cyberbullying, as well as her mission to build a global community of young innovators to solve problems around the world.
