Hollywood star Tom Hanks will host a primetime special called “Celebrating America” before Joe Biden’s inauguration on January 20.
The 90-minute special will kick off the program for Biden’s swearing-in ceremony on the same day. It also contributes to the effort to turn the mass event — a celebration that usually draws crowds on the steps of the U.S. Capitol — into a virtual one this year because of the coronavirus pandemic.
According to a Deadline report, Hanks will host the show, which will be broadcast on several networks, including NewsNow from Fox, ABC, CBS and Amazon Prime Video. In addition to Hanks, stars such as Justin Timberlake, Demi Lovato and Jon Bon Jovi are expected to appear.
“This inauguration is a unique opportunity to highlight the resilience and spirit of a United America,” said University of Delaware President and CEO of the Presidential Inaugural Committee Tony Allen.
