There is a whole story behind the phrase by Elon Musk, which he voiced after the successful launch of astronauts in the Crew Dragon capsule from the United States.
It turned out that Mask has a very good memory. The founder and CEO of SpaceX after the success of Demo-2 at the International Space Station on May 30 said the phrase: “The trampoline is working.”
Musk thus responded to the 2014 remark made by the head of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, who was then Russia’s deputy prime minister.
Rogozin was then annoyed by the sanctions imposed by the United States in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Some of these sanctions were directed against the Russian space industry. Rogozin argued that these measures would ultimately harm NASA and global space efforts in general. In the end, the US space agency was completely dependent on Soyuz rocket flights to deliver astronauts to the ISS.
“I offer the United States to deliver its astronauts to the International Space Station on a trampoline,” Rogozin said then.
