US President Donald Trump is inclined to ignore any accusations against Russia, said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Commenting on the information that Russian military intelligence allegedly offered rewards to Taliban-related militants for attacks on American soldiers in Afghanistan and that Trump was informed about this, but did nothing, Pelosi expressed outrage.
“One must think that the moment the president heard about this, he should have wanted to know more, instead of denying that he knew something,” she said on ABC News.
As the parliamentarian put it, at Trump “all roads lead to Putin.”
Pelosi called the current president of the United States a “gift for Russia,” citing as an example the situation with the weakening of the US leading role in NATO, as well as a decrease in the number of US troops in Germany. In her opinion, “something is very wrong here,” and this should have a reasonable explanation.
Trump himself said on Twitter that no one had informed him or Vice President Mike Pence about the attacks on American soldiers in Afghanistan, which Russia may be behind. And his former national security adviser, John Bolton, expressed the view that Trump is primarily interested in not the security of the country and its citizens, but how he looks in the eyes of the public.
