U.S. President Donald Trump vetoed the defense budget adopted by both houses of Congress.
“I’m returning the resolution. (…) It fails to include critical measures necessary to ensure national security, includes items that do not respect our veterans and our military history, runs counter to my administration’s efforts to make America’s interests paramount in our national security and foreign policy,” the American leader stressed.
Trump has repeatedly promised to block the budget bill. He has noted that China would benefit the most from passing the resolution. The draft also contains sanctions against the construction of the Nord Stream-2 pipeline.
According to the U.S. president, the document should repeal Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act. Trump stressed that it threatens the national security of the country. According to this clause, social networks are not responsible for the comments of users, while they can edit them. Trump and his administration are in favor of holding services accountable for censorship.
