US President Donald Trump said he considers the idea of an invasion of Venezuela “cool”, according to a book by former Trump adviser John Bolton, which is expected to be published next week.
In The Room Where It Happened: A White House Memoir, a former adviser to an American leader claims the invasion of Venezuela is a “cool idea.”
As stated in the memoirs, Russian President Vladimir Putin during telephone conversations with Trump was able in many ways to set the American leader against the opposition leader in Venezuela, Juan Guaido. The conversation took place in May 2019. In particular, Putin compared Guaido with Hilary Clinton, whom Trump hates, writes NYT.
Earlier in May, Trump noted that “if he wanted to enter Venezuela, he would not make a secret of it.”
Bolton commented on the relationship between his country’s president, Donald Trump, and Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
According to ABC News, he called the Russian leader “smart and tough.”
“I think Putin believes he can skillfully manipulate Trump,” Bolton said. According to him, the Russian president is able to get out of a difficult situation well.
Bolton called Trump “a frivolous adversary” for Putin.
